Susan & I have signed up to do this year's Great North Run (it really did seem like a good idea a couple of months ago...). The last time we did the run together was 20 years ago and we each completed it within a very respectable time. This time around I think things will be somewhat different. It may take us the best part of the day to jog (Ha!), walk and then hobble to the finishing line - but rest assured we WILL make it and we'll have a JOLLY fun time to boot! (Hmm). We will of course be spurred on tremendously by the support of our friends and family (so get donating guys). We have chosen to raise funds for Cancer Research UK in dedication of the memory of Susan's brother Sean, who lost his fight against lung cancer in 2006 aged just 52, and in recognition of the advances in treatment - made possible through funds raised for charities like Cancer Research UK - that my younger brother, Hristos, has benefited from since he was diagnosed with the same disease earlier this year. |
